When it comes to DAK Bar ingredients, we’ve got nothing to hide. No confusing, unrecognizable names on our labels - just straight-up food in its purest form. DAK Bars taste like real food because they’re made with real food. Here are some of the reasons we chose these nutriments, and how they benefit us:

  • Real Protein Sources - nuts, seeds, wheat germ and nutritional yeast. Natural sources of protein are easier to digest and assimilate, resulting in greater energy levels. No soy protein isolates here!
  • Nature's Sweeteners - honey, maple syrup and sucanat. Pure & simple. Mother Nature gives it up naturally, and we have much respect for the work she has done.
  • What’s up with the butter? Butter is a completely natural fat that has been consumed for thousands of years. Our ancestors knew of its value (even worshipped it in some cultures!), and we can see it too. Butter supplies essential fatty acids for longevity, hormone balance, heart health, sharp vision, healthy skin, and increased energy. Loaded  with great stuff!

  • GUTEN FREE!  Happy bellies make for happy adventures!
  • Local Goods - We use local goods whenever available, and organic whenever possible.

Organic Rolled Oats contain specific fiber and antioxidants proven to lower cholesterol, prevent heart disease, regulate blood sugar, and strengthen the immune system. We use only whole grains, which slow down the digestive process, allowing for better absorption of nutrients. Phytochemicals found in whole grains break down carcinogens and regulate healthy bacteria in the intestines.


Nutritional Yeast is a complete protein, rich in B vitamins, and has been shown to stabilize blood sugar.


Almonds are high in monounsaturated fats and make an excellent source of Manganese and Vitamin E, as well as a good source of magnesium. These tasty tidbits pack a nutritional punch, combining heaps of essential nutrients in one very delicious little package.
Roasted Peanuts contain healthy monounsaturated fat proven to lower cholesterol and many antioxidants shown to prevent heart disease and decrease the chances of stroke and colon cancer.
Pecans contain the natural antioxidant Vitamin E, which protects the nervous system, protects against cell damage, and helps fight disease. They have been shown to increase metabolic rates while providing over 19 vitamins and minerals.
Dried Blueberries are tiny concentrated packages of nutrition and contain up to four times as much antioxidants as fresh blueberries. They are also loaded with iron, potassium and selenium – all important nutrients for maintaining healthy blood and muscles.
Dried Cherries are rich in Vitamin C, A, Beta carotene, and the minerals calcium, iron, phosphorous, potassium, and zinc, among others. Properties of cherries provide a quick burst of energy while contributing to a healthy heart, cell repair, prevent memory loss, and delay the aging process.
Dried Cranberries have been shown to prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol, and also have been proven to prevent urinary tract infections, act as an anti-viral compound, and guard against cancer.
Organic Sesame Seeds contain high amounts of copper, which has been shown to reduce arthritic joint pain as well as prevent bone loss and migraine headaches.
Organic Flaxseeds have been touted as a “super food” rich in omega 3’s for heart and bone health, it has also been shown to prevent certain cancers and heart disease, lower cholesterol, and even reduce menopausal hot flashes. Whew!
Pumpkin Seeds are calorie dense and packed with fiber, vitamins E and B-complex, essential minerals like copper and manganese, and lots of healthy antioxidants. They are especially rich in monounsaturated fats, and contain good, quality protein.
Sunflower Seeds are highly nutritious--packed with vitamins B1 and B5, vitamin E and folate. They also provide a healthy dose of important minerals like copper, magnesium, selenium and phosphorous.
Chia Seeds contain very high concentrations of omega-3 fats, which are required to build every cell in your body. Additionally, their properties increase energy, regulate blood pressure, promote gut health, bone health, and mental health, and the list goes on! Ch-ch-ch-chia!
Hemp Seeds are an incredible source of protein, containing all 10 essential amino acids. They are rich in phytonutrients, anti-aging antioxidants, Vitamin E, Zinc, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and iron. They also contain a balanced ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fats that support anti-inflammatory hormones.
Raw, Local Honey has been used for centuries in many cultures for its natural healing properties. Honey is a powerful antioxidant, which has been shown to boost immunity, lower cholesterol, and stabilize blood sugar.
Local Maple Syrup is an excellent source of manganese, which is important in energy production and antioxidant defenses. It is also a good source of zinc, which functions to decrease the formation of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Both act to boost the immune system.
Sucanat Some of our bars contain sucanat as a sweetener alongside the honey, giving a rich, caramel flavor. Sucanat undergoes a process used by ancient cultures of evaporating sugar cane juice into little smidgens, which keeps the sugar and molasses content intact. Molasses contains significant amounts of calcium and iron.

Butter Properties of butter, especially grass-fed, organic sources, are so vast they deserve a list:
